Mulbarton issues addressed

LEADING MEMBERS: Craig Tsakos (chairman Mulbarton Community Forum), Thandinkosi Nogwanya (deputy director of the department of finance COJ), Arthur Mbobo (deputy director of the department of finance COJ), Councillor Sarah Wissler (ward 23 councillor) and Iain Sherwood (vice chairman Mulbarton Community Forum).

A public meeting for Mulbarton residents was held on June 28 at the St Paul’s United Church on Tehore Street where billing issues in Mulbarton, as well as the erection of a mosque on True North Road, were addressed.

The Mulbarton Community Forum meeting was graced by City of Joburg (COJ) members Thandinkosi Nogwanya (deputy director of the department of finance COJ) and Arthur Mbobo (deputy director of the department of finance COJ) as well as ward 23 councillor, Sarah Wissler.

GOOD TURNOUT: Many residents joined the public meeting at St Paul’s United Church in Mulbarton.

The meeting kicked off with the introduction of the Mulbarton Community Forum by chairman of the MCF, Craig Tsakos, who outlined its intentions to the residents.

Tsakos explained the connection the MCF has to the SAPS as well as to the sector 1 Community Policing Forum, the communication of alerts and security information and the community bases projects in conjunction with councillor Sarah Wissler and her team.

AGAINST CRIME: The Mulbarton Community Forum recently held a public meeting.

The next topic was the billing issues from the residents and the response from the Deputy Directors of COJ. The billing issues were noted and are being looked at by COJ. They will be followed up by councillor Wissler.

The last topic discussed was the rezoning of properties in Mulbarton. The main concern was the mosque to be built on True North Road and the traffic that this would create on a Friday afternoon during prayer time.

The community asked that this be considered and requested that more parking to be added inside the grounds. People representing the mosque are more than happy to work with the community.
