Gauteng ANC supports victims of flash floods

The ANC in Gauteng conveys our deepest condolences to the families of the four people who lost their lives in the flash floods, which caused severe damage to vehicles and infrastructure around Johannesburg on Wednesday, November 9.

We also extend our solidarity to all other injured and affected motorists and communities.

Caring for our people continues to be our priority and the leadership of the ANC in the province, will pay a visit to the affected families to try and comfort and assist them where possible during this difficult time

ANC Gauteng chairperson, comrade Paul Mashatile, in his capacity as acting premier on the day, activated the Joburg Disaster Management Centre to co-ordinate efforts to investigate the extent of the damage; and the need for assistance. The team led by the ANC provincial government, will also look at houses and informal settlements in Alexandra and other affected areas, particularly those along the Juksei River.

The ANC-led government in Gauteng stands ready to assist all the affected people and calls on volunteers of the ANC, to get into communities and assist neighbours who have experienced the worst of this weather. Together we are stronger and united we will conquer this disaster.
