What inspires you to change?

“Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.” – Mandy Hale

There’s nothing as painful and frustrating as an author, speaker and life coach who spends his time as an engineer in a manufacturing plant. There’s nothing as painful and frustrating as a singer and songwriter who spends his time as a teller at the bank or even as a medical doctor. There’s nothing as painful and frustrating as a farmer who spends his time as an accountant for a global accounting firm. My friend, the pain and frustration doesn’t come from what you are doing but mainly what you are not doing.

The question you should be asking yourself now is: ‘Have I become comfortable with my discomforts? Am I confronting what I am supposed to be confronting?’ How do I change the situation?’

Change comes from inspiration or desperation. I am inspired by people who change from what others see as ideal to pursue their callings, yes, their heart desires. I changed from engineering to be a professional speaker, author, coach and entrepreneur. I found freedom, that’s the long and short of it.

Vinnie Kapoor, was a top performer in her team at American Express. She quit her secure job to become a makeup artist. She said, “I am relieved that instead of being stuck in a boring, grey office dealing with money and investments, I am bringing beauty into people’s lives.”

It’s these real life stories of people who listened to their hearts that inspire me. Be the best that you can be.

What inspires you? What are you doing to make life bearable for others? Or is it just all about you? Maybe it’s time you change your perspective.
