Rewlatch Primary gives to animals

WINNING TEAM: Rewlatch Primary School's Grade Sevens showed off their leadership in giving back to the animals.

HATS off to the Rewlatch Primary School leaders (Grade Sevens) who gave back to their community on November 21.

The school’s ‘leaders’, as they are formally called at the school, continued a Rewlatch Primary school tradition which is to collect tinned food, dog food and pet care items all in support of the AACL animal shelter.

Deputy principal Stephen Douwie said he was especially touched by the dedication of the learners who want to be a positive example in their community.

He said the response from the learners who supported the pet food collection drive was overwhelming and he was proud of the learners’ initiative.

“We at Rewlatch pride ourselves on instilling a champion spirit in every learner’s attitude and their support has proven they are well on their way to becoming champions in their futures,” he said.

The leaders arrived at the animal shelter to hand over the pet food.

Education officer at AACL Johan Steenkamp welcomed the learners and lorded them for their generous and selfless act.
