Hijackers shoot JMPD officer in Booysens

A 47-year-old JMPD officer was shot in the head by hi-jackers near Pat Mbatha busway and Old True Road Booysens at about 4.45am this morning, Tuesday February 13.

The officer was alone at the time and intervened as a minibus taxi was being hijacked when the suspects shot at the officer about five times and one bullet hit the side of his head.

He was transported to Milpark Hospital for further medical attention.

No arrests have been made as yet.

“We strongly condemn the shooting and every effort will made to apprehend the suspects,” said David Tembe Chief of Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department.
