It was Mother’s Day and students from Harvest Christian College and Waterstone College made sure that the elderly of the Reuven Retirement Complex were not left high and dry. Instead, Harvest Christian College students came to bring joy and happiness to the residents by entertaining the elderly with a sing-along concert and distributing gift parcels. Some of the students visited the sick in their flats to spend some time with them and to bless them with a gift. This was to instil happiness and love in the sometimes lonely lives of some of the residents.
Waterstone College came on the Monday – the day after Mother’s Day. The hall was decorated by Christen Crossley caregivers from Meals and Wheels. The organisers, Charmain and Paula, teachers and students did a fine job to entertain the elderly with poetry and song. It was enjoyable to be entertained by poems infused with loving and affectionate words that moved and inspired the audience.
On behalf of the residents of Reuven Retirement Complex, we wish to express our deep-felt thanks and appreciation for all the effort and sacrifice made by the teachers and students. We know it takes hard work and dedication and lots of love to sacrifice the day to instil joy and happiness in the lives of the elderly. God bless you all abundantly.
