THE station commander of Booysens SAPS Brigadier Ndebele wishes to appeal to the community to be aware that house robberies are on the increase in the Booysens area.
They should also take note of the modus operandi of the robbers. People from the so-called service delivery places/institutes visit communities homes and pretend to be there to either fix, check or install something.
“This office is appealing to the community to inform their domestic workers and/or the people staying in their homes that they must confirm with the owner of the house if they are expecting someone to fix, check or install anything, before opening the door and allowing these people in,” said Capt. Lorraine van Emmerik, Booysens SAPS communications officer.
“Suspects now pretend to have contacted the owner and spoken to them over the phone. This is false. Please inform your domestic worker and /or people in the house to speak to you personally.
“Once they gain access into the house, they hold up the occupants and steal a large number of goods. “Working together we can beat the crime in our area,” said Van Emmerik.
