14 THE November meeting for the Probus Club will be held at the Reading Country Club on November 14 from 11am. Probus is a club for retirees and semi-retirees. 24 THIS is one car show bringing you everything you love about cars and motorcycles with high end vehicles, street and hot rods and a touch of the classics – make sure you make your way to Hoërskool Dinamika on Saturday, November 24. The day is hosted by the Brackendowns police reservists to raise much-needed funds to equip them to effectively protect and serve the community. The day also offers a children’s play area with jumping castles and a variety of games as well as food and drink stalls. There is also a raffle and tickets will be sold at the gate. 25 JOBURG Ice Cream Run, hosted by The Ice Cream Fun Fest SA, will take place on November 25 at 10am to 4pm at Rietvlei Zoo Farm. Everyone is invited to this day filled with loads of outdoor activities and fun. The Ice Cream Fun Fest SA is a community platform that celebrates the power of food to bring people together. 7 CHRISTMAS Market at Sha-Mani Lodge, 30 Doncaster Raod, New Market, Alberton for December 7 to December 9. This promises to be a spectacular weekend event running into the night with delicious food from various stalls, more than 80 craft and market stalls, gift wrapping station in support of Irwin Animal Rescue Centre, kids’ activities throughout market hours with Olaf, Anna and Elsa is visiting on the Saturday – come play in the snow with them, jumping castle, face painting, pony rides, petting zoo, free dance mouse class (Saturday) and free playball session (Saturday). Christmas lights will be on in the gardens in the evenings with music entertainment on the Friday evening and Carols by Candlelight on the Saturday evening. Market is open Friday from 1pm to 9pm, Saturday from 9am to 9pm and Sunday from 9am to 3pm. Entry fee is R20 per person with children under the age of 7 enter free. 8 RAWSON Properties will be hosting a Family Fun Day at Jackson Dam on December 8, to raise funds for various initiatives around Alberton. There will be a craft market, food stalls, dog shows, a DJ, a magician, Santa Claus and his elf, a fitness gym and a jumping castle for the children, an auction and “Habib’s Boxing Hand Pad Expo”. Entrance is free, or you can book a table for R150. Please bring along any unwanted items that can benefit the less fortunate. Donations and funds raised will go towards the Help Empower the Less Fortunate (HELP) Forum, Alberton SPCA, Alberton Child Welfare, Animal Protection Network (APN) and the Community Policing Forum (CPF). SA MILITARY History Society, Johannesburg branch, will meet again on December 13 at the Auditorium of the Museum of Military History, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold (next to the Zoo) at 8pm. This will be a DVD evening to be followed by a year-end function. DVD Title: “Deterrence from the deep, the US Navy Ohio class ballistic missile submarines” – running time 42 minutes. Wives are welcome to come along with their husbands and enjoy the evening with us. Visitors are charged R30 per person, which includes tea or coffee after the lecture.
